Christmas Celebration

Hello Friends,  

I am Pastor Esther Achi of Lindsborg Trinity UMC and I am so happy to be a part of this church and our community.  

Despite all that is going on in the world, we are in a very special time of year as we are traveling through the Advent season.  We are looking forward to Christmas and the celebration of remembering the birth of the Christ Child.  What a wonderful time of year as we anticipate family gatherings, gifts being exchanged, Christmas Eve services, family dinners, and the singing of Christmas carols.  Despite all that we so often get caught up in the busyness of the season; shopping for gifts, decorating the Christmas tree and the house, traveling to be with family and friends, that we sometimes forget what Christmas is all about.  We tend to forget that is about the birth, two thousand years, ago of the savior of the world, Jesus Christ who came to free us of slavery to sin and death.  We think of gifts that we receive at Christmas and the joy we find in that, but we remember also the gifts the Magi brought to the baby Jesus of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.  Let us not forget the most important gift of all; the gift of salvation that we receive from Jesus himself.  May you all have a wonderful and blessed Christmas and also a Happy New Year!
